We invented the BeechBand because we know what it’s like…

Our brains are powerful tools, but they don’t always do what we want. Our bodies then follow the same path.

When you’re nervous or under pressure for instance, you might trip over your words, forget what you were going to say, or even need to keep running to the loo. That’s because when your brain doesn’t feel calm, it doesn’t behave naturally, upsetting your body’s normal rhythms and functions.

Faced with the stresses of everyday life, such as work, ill heath, loss of sleep, we all see this knock-on effect in different and sometimes surprising ways. Feeling unsettled, struggling to concentrate, finding it hard to switch off? At times it can feel like we’re losing control. It can be overwhelming physically and mentally.

Our founder, Carl, knew that feeling only too well. When he invented the BeechBand his wellbeing had hit an all-time low with severe health challenges and under unrelenting pressure at work. Over a year, he noticed that through regular and repeated use he was able to retrain his brain. It was hugely restorative in so many ways, and he got control of his life back. Today, his innovation is helping 1000s of people, like you, take back control.

Believe in better days to come. We do.

“From the day we invented BeechBand our mission has been to provide more moments of calm to as many people as possible, as fast and affordably as we can.”

Carl Beech,
Founder

Carl’s story

When his health and wellbeing took a turn for the worse at 51, charity activist and founder Carl Beech began to give up hope. But having spent his adult life helping others, he was determined not to give up on himself.

One day, Carl was experimenting with a calming tapping technique. Much like the sound of a mother’s heartbeat heard by a baby in the womb, he wondered if it would tell his brain to feel safe.

The product he conceived had a stunning impact on his life. He’d worked on a theory that the safest place he had ever been was his mother’s womb and wondered if it would make him feel safer and better in himself if he recreated it.  This was highly counterintuitive. A late term pregnant mother has an elevated heartbeat! Most people think a calm heartbeat is slow but the results spoke for themselves. By making the product replicate that heartbeat he felt much better in himself.  In a blind test he said “stop” as co-inventor Nick Whiteley gradually turned the frequency of the test product he had made up from zero until he felt completely well in himself.  It was the very same frequency that produced the mother’s heartbeat!  BeechBand was born. He isn’t afraid to admit that the effect was so overwhelming he cried.  Imagine not being able to speak when under pressure but then on feeling the product regaining fluency, and that was just one of many he was facing.

A major breakthrough was the triple discovery of the frequency, the unique method of delivery to replicate the heartbeat as accurately as possible (in terms of what the unborn baby might feel)  and the realisation that it needs to be delivered in a uniquely subconscious manner.  Along the way they found that metronomes and tapping whilst having some success, didn't have the same impact as the BeechBand.

The next significant moment was the realisation that the more he wore it, the better he felt.  Even when the band wasn’t on!

So, he had the idea: what if this could be turned into a wearable that could benefit more people, more easily?

With the help of friend and tech software expert, Nick, over 30 prototypes were made in under a year and then they formed a team including co-founder and CEO Mark Hutchinson.  A team was gathered, manufacturing partners found, and the company was born.

Of course, things have only grown from there. We’ve since heard from 1000s of BeechBand users, and counting, who are retraining their brain to feel at ease with the help of Carl’s rhythmic vibrations. Every day we hear new ways the calming effects are helping people enjoy better days.

The reports have been nothing less than extraordinary, and this is only just the beginning.

Nick

With a background in software tech, co-founder and friend Nick Whiteley was inspired by Carl’s vision to produce the first prototype in just 48 hours. A keen supporter of charitable causes, Nick believed from day 1 that BeechBand should be accessible to all and made available as soon as possible.
